Obliquity -- Obliquity II Label: Bump Foot Catalog#: foot182 Format: 13 × File, MP3, Album, VBR Country: Japan Released: 03 Jul 2011 Genre: Electronic Style: IDM, Dub Techno, Ambient "Ross Baker delivered us another amazing album, this time under his another alias. "Obliquity II began life as an album by Ross Baker's main project, Second Thought. However, as the record was completed it became obvious that the melodic electronica was a world away from Second Thought's experimental soundscapes, and so it became part of the ongoing Obliquity project." The album covers all bases, from ambient dub to Berlin school sequences, and bears influence from the broad history of melodic electronic music, which combine together to form an exotic journey, both dark and light." - Bump Foot

Madstyle -- Mystic Beauty Label: Phonocake Catalog#: Phoke43 Format: 7 × File, MP3, EP, VBR Country: Germany Released: 22 Jul 2007 Genre: Electronic Style: Broken Beat, IDM Sniping Katana-Breaks, underlayed by aetheric plateaus, elevating the latest heights of the Cosmic Sensor Space. Flying carpets cruising through superhighspeedlevels of Multimonitor-Motions. Dreamy huge keyboards let appear big signs and symbols trough myriads of fog. Somebody has blown into the pollen. The ep gets sweeter and sweeter, at the latest with 'floranta', to go phat beated and happy as well as polyphonic chirping, more and more drifting in the direction of 'Gedankenwelt'. Who still is upstanding at this point, can take a seat at the 'Wackelsofa'(wobble couch), having the grande finale, well-adjusted and smooth, saying good bye to the ep. Aiming to present the local electronic music scene on a wider scale, the Dresden based netlabel Phonocake releases electronic music by artists from Dresden since June 1, 2003. Since 2006 we also release music from friends and artists worldwide, from Russia, South America and Europe. We made the online music debuts of artists like Disrupt, Alec Tronic, Modul, Kryptic Universe, Madstyle and Mr. Incognito possible. Our musicians do their music mainly in the free time, but mostly for more than ten years. You can find music in the styles IDM, melodic Electronica, Experimental and all possible combinations of it here. We have a strong free access and free culture attitude. In 2010 we reactivated the label sleepycity.org as our sister label. Besides this Phonocake sees itself as a platform for artists to interact and act locally. The music, we offer here and in the net is released with the so called Creative Commons Licence. This licence is especially good to protect the listeners, so they can download, listen and use the files safely under the conditions, not to sell or make money with the music. On the other hand all artists keep their (copy)rights. Offering music under a creative commons licence does not mean, that the artist looses anything. Here: http://www.phonocake.org/
Electricwest -- Moth3r / R3mixes Label: Archaic Horizon Catalog#: AH033 Format: 22 × File, MP3, Album, 192 kbps Country: US Released: 29 May 2009 Genre: Electronic Style: Glitch, IDM, Downtempo, Ambient "After a three track sampler and a pay per download release on Rope Swing Cities, AH is re-releasing Electricwest's 'MOTH3R' along with a bonus album. 'R3MIXES' reinterprets the album's 11 songs through 11 different artists, including Electricwest himself. It features a mix of ambient drones to start the album off, flowing gradually into more beat-oriented, dub and idm. 'MOTH3R' stands strong on its own, with Electricwest's familiar rumbling bass and haunting tones invigorated from their own distortions. Disembodied voices become embedded within the dissonance and unearthed in the melodies. The album confronts listeners with a polarity between dark, anxious and crawling sonics against more calm and optimistic moments. Extended thanks to all artist involved in 'R3MIXES' and to those who purchased 'MOTH3R' upon its original release." - AH

Electricwest is Patrick Benolkin, a diverse and prolific producer from Boise, Idaho. With a tip to the more electronic sides of Warp records and Ghostly International, Electricwest creates soulful and crystal-sharp experimental electronic gems. In 2006, Electricwest made some Overlap-related waves by winning a Creative Commons (CC) remix contest of Christopher Willits’ track “Colors Shifting” which was featured by Ghostly International and CC. Since then Benolkin has surfed an explosion of activity, releasing six albums via his Electricwest and Eluder monikers. “Detach” is Electicwest’s newest and most concise statement to date. Electricwest -- Divine De Vice Label: Archaic Horizon Catalog#: AH022 Format: File, MP3, Album, 192 kbps,15xFile, FLAC, Album Country: US Released: 23 Jan 2008 Genre: Electronic Style: IDM, Downtempo, Ambient "Manifesting an angelic sound through adverse emotions creates a dynamic structure to Divine de Vice. On the surface lie alluring tangible synths that glaze arduous and mysterious memories. Softly broken beats fringed at the edges skim across this ever fading finish, condensing the foggy barrier between a burdened past. Beginning with a tranquil hum, "Before You Know I'm Gone" progresses from its quiet origin with distinctive glitching percussion, soft and effervescent. The unfamiliar melodies of "Hello Stranger" foreshadow the uncertain intentions of our own most powerful vice. "The Crawls" descends deep below a divine surface exposing the ominous workings of the often unseen. The album is then completely reinterpreted through six various artists as well as a remix by Electricwest." - Archaic Horizon

"July 12th 2011 at 9:00pm est somewhere in the city of Detroit. It was a hot muggy night in the motor city, the cicadas were buzzing along with synthesizers in the distance, the ambient still air was crackling transiently with the movements of R.F. energy and yet a young man in a hot upstairs room stands in front of a collection of various vintage vacuum tube communications equipment; ready to disperse a unique sound across the city of Detroit over the airwaves. As broadcast on shortwave via F.C.C. part 15 rules, Telegraphy compiled a forty minute live set of minimal and Detroit style techno along with ambient and noise sounds. Sounds of shortwave were captured in real time with the use of a vintage Collins R-388 vacuum tube high frequency receiver. All tracks were produced by Telegraphy. Cover photo "Somewhere in Detroit" silver geliten print by Telegraphy. Ionosonde recordings presents, Telegraphy. A live forty minute set of minimal and Detroit techno, ambient and sounds of shortwave. A vintage vacuum tube shortwave receiver was used as a accompaniment noise and ambient sound generator. Northcape -- Alluvial EP Label: Elpa Catalog#: Elpa70 Format: 4 × File, MP3, EP, 320 kbps Country: Latvia Released: 11 Jun 2011 Genre: Electronic Style: Downtempo, Ambient Cover artwork by Northcape. The 'Alluvial' EP is inspired by geology, human prehistory and the idea of 'deep time'- how incredibly long it has taken the planet to evolve. I have therefore tried to express a sense of scale, which is in contrast to the more personal landscapes that inspire much of Northcape's material. The result is this EP which contains four slow-building but still melodic tracks with a more ambient feel. Some of the tracks are inspired by the idea of human habitation in the distant past, and others by geological space - the release image is pretty much a landscape I was imagining when I was writing the tracks. Although they are different from my normal approach to melodic electronica (which continues to develop), I think these tracks still keep a recognizable Northcape sound. "The music that we search can be categorized as Melodic Electronica. For example it can be ambient over idm till electro, but in your own new way and understanding. "It's time to find the holy grail in the dark. A secret part in the cave-system, a hidden world. Forget all crisis for some time, think of healing, love and regeneration/recreation. The spring starts in your body, weatherless chaos, envisioning the future of ideas. We are filled with pleasure having the honour to present Barcelona's D-Fried with his beautiful sounds in electronic worlds, that hold an intense and chilling spirit, creating a roomflooding atmosphere of peace. Along with this great release we can see an amazing artwork by Tokyo-based contemporary artist Buna, who also created the latest Funckarma-Release-Artwork. Much thanks. Bad Comfort -- Postplatz EP Label: Phonocake Catalog#: Phoke21 Format: 3 × File, MP3, EP, Mixed, VBR V2 File, MPEG-4, AVI Country: Germany Released: Dec 2003 Genre: Electronic Style: IDM, Electro, Ambient "Bad Comfort presents the "Postplatz EP", four tracks that were created in the Audiolab during the summer, the Audiolab serving as a communication platform, a sound workshop and a summer resort for creators and fans of electronic music on quite a few Sunday afternoons, and by the by also as the birthplace of Phonocake. The EP contains four tracks that capture the atmosphere of the Sundays spent in the Audiolab, four tracks that transport the listener back to the small room at the Postplatz, stuffed with people and technical equipment, and let him (or her) look out onto the pavement, bathed in sunlight, and at the passers-by, who are looking back curiously. Calm, at times playful melodies and relaxed (and relaxing) rhythms are embedded in a Dresden Postplatz soundscape, thus documenting the musical meet-ups, the jam sessions, the weather, the coffee and the (phono-)cake. As a kind of present on the occasion of the half-year-long existence of Phonocake (this was released in Dec 2003), we'll toss in a video by Graf which features a walk across the Postplatz, giving a wonderful visual impression of the Audiolab atmosphere." - Phonocake. http://www.phonocake.org/

We witness his 2010er version of electronic Dub and diverse steps here. The EP goes a step further whilst the musician helps itself with a mixture of "sawtooth rag shredder" and fragile electronica aestetics at the same time. Unusually voluminous, yet clear and structured it delivers his own definition of the current 'hype machines', utilizing digital and analogue machines.
